Waretown Elementary School Media Center
The Waretown Elementary School Media Center consists of over 6,000 written volumes and numerous videos. Every book in our media center is coded with a reading zone which correlates with our Renaissance Learning/Accelerated Reading Program.
The kindergarten through second grade classes each have a 40 minute library period every week. They are allowed to check out one book to take home and enjoy. Students also choose another book in their individual “reading zone”.
We also have an open library schedule. This allows the children to continually change their Accelerated Reader (zoned) books. When a student finishes reading a book, they take a short quiz and earn points for prizes if they pass the quiz. If a student scores a 100% on a quiz, they write their name on a “cookie” for our “Be a Smart Cookie Bulletin Board”.
Our goal is to have an updated media center which meets all of the needs of our students and staff.
